I cannot believe we are in Unit 8 already. My how time flies when we're having fun! lol We've survived so much in these past weeks. My fondest memory is learning how to blog. Who would ever guess we'd be doing this? I love it, and will miss this time to share our thoughts when our term is done.
I've spent the whole morning, trying to revise and add to my project. I have found the Paramedic Method of Revision very helpful and have already made many changes. I never realized I would have to make so many though. I am also adding many of the details that I wanted to incorporate into my project as a whole. This is such a time consuming process because I am not a very good writer. I see some grammer errors and sentence structure needs. I cannot wait until it is finished. I'm excited to see how well it turns out.
I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! I pray that 2010 will be an easier year for us all. My resolution will be to stay focused on my school work so that I can graduate next December!
~Best Wishes to everyone~

Holiday Happiness : )
Wow! Christmas has come and gone so quickly. All the searching and shopping is done. The beautiful packages are gone. I am glad though, because now we can center our thoughts on the real reason we celebrate this season, without the distractions of ribbons and bows. Don't misunderstand me, I love all of the excitment and music, and I am sad to see it end. It's so hard for me when it's over.
We had a wonderful day and had dinner with family. As usual I ate too much. All the kids were running around and playing. My Sarah got a new camera, and every picture of me she took was bad. I kept teasing her about that. I just wanted one good one to be able to post it on my blog. We'll keep trying.
Today is now my day to get back to work and get this project perfected. If someone could please help me with my references, to let me know what I am doing wrong I would greatly appreciate it. The professor said I was missing some parts. I don't know what it could be. I bought the books, so it can't be that.

In Much Need of a Break : )
This has been one of the most emotionally draining week I have ever had in my college career.
I have had personal as well as educational stress. Writing 2 rough drafts, working in retail at Christmas time, and major financial problems, have really wiped me out. I hope everyone else has had a better week then me. I'm going to cut this post short so that I may run to work. I look forward to tomorrow when I can finally rest. Merry Christmas All.

The Fun Begins!!!
This is quite an interesting week for us Comp 2 writers. The different pre-writing strategies we can use to help formulate our ideas and research knowledge is amazing! For me the 2 ways I am comfortable with are the informal outlining or brainstorming. It is kinda fun being able to start putting our work onto paper. I'm sorry I missed class last week. I had a fever and flu symptoms. I hope to feel better soon.

The Need for Time Management Skills
Today I had a wonderful blessing occur. I had my first day working at Rite Aid. It is not a glamorous job, but the staff and management team are very friendly. I felt very comfortable, and really enjoyed the day. Now the balancing of time will begin! With working, school, and Christmas, it should be a very interesting few weeks. The next several weeks will be the hardest I feel and the need to stay focused and motivated will be critical, along with celebrating the Christmas season. We should not allow our busy schedules to interfere with our main goal of school. I just pray now to be able to have the stamina to keep up and not fall behind. I am greatful to be able to work again, expecially with the way the economy is now. At least I'll be able to catch up on the electric and verizon bills so I can keep my computer running! Praise to our Lord!

Research! Research! Read all about it!
I have been reading, underling, and trying to form some kind of outline to condense all of this information. Alzheimer's is such an interesting topic, that I fear I may write too much and sway from my thesis statement. I need to stay focused on my main points.
I'm also writing another paper for Anatomy 2 on the stomach. I hope I won't mix the two and accidentally state something about gastric fluid in the brain! (just a little humor!)
I went to the book store on Tuesday and purchased an excellent book called The Alzheimer's Action Plan, by Doraiswamy, P., Gwyther, L., & Adler, T. It will be very helpful for learning the different stages of this disease and details the most recent treatment available for this disease.
I look forward to hearing how everyone else is progressing with their papers.
See ya in class!

Project Topic
I finally decided on a topic for my composition 2 project. It will be on Alzheimer's Disease. This disease seems as thought it is affects more people now then in the past. I had worked in a dementia for 3 years and still do not have a full understanding on what was happening with the residents. My goal is to work in the medical office, and I will have to be able to respond to patients with varied physical and mental conditions, which would include Alzheimer's patients. There are many techniques you can use in order to communicate with these patients. Learning this will enable me to respond in such a way as to not upset them. I do know that despite there impaired memory, these people respond to love and hugs more then anything else. Facilities need to screen the aides they hire very carefully (which it's hard to find kind people to do this work for only 8.00 per hour). I have found the need for staffing, outweighs the need for quality care. It should be interesting to remember what I have experienced, and research what would be the many other options of care that are used.
If anyone has any personal thoughts they wish to share or know of any resources that would help me, I would love to hear them.

My New Blog Account
Today I have just set up a blog account. I'm not sure what to do with it or even how to navigate around this new site. But Kaplan Universitys composition course requires me to blog, so now I am blogging. This is fun, and will increase my typing and writing skills. I pray I will be able to use this site effectively. I am quite nervous, but confident that with time, I will be an avid blogger.
